To start your search, the entrance to the trail head is between the two Handy Pond Preserve signs ( pole 278 ) on Old River Road. Trail is denoted by green rectangle.

Shortly at bottom of hill, continue straight.

After crossing a stream which may or may not be running, stay to the right. Head uphill and quickly you will see a tree with multi color marks. Bear right.

Stay on this trail until you reach the top of the hill roughly ⅓ mile. This will be a 7-8 minute hike.

Roughly at top of the hill, notice a trail on the right marked by a blue square. Looking up this trail, notice a large wart on a tree 50 feet in front of you. Walk directly towards the tree and standing on the rock just in front of it, look to your right and you will see a marriage of a tree and rock where a box is located providing you an important clue in your quest.

To continue your journey, again standing on the rock looking at the wart continue up the trail just to your left.

Heading in a Northwest direction on this trail, you will see a three foot “boy scout” bridge on your right. This marks the halfway point to the “T” in the trail you are looking for. When you reach the “T”, take a left up a hill to a 4-way under the power lines.

At this intersection, take a (clue from first box). Travel in this
direction until the trail crosses an outcrop of rocks before heading back down. Look for the orange line. Standing on the orange line, looking up the trail in a Westerly direction, you will spot a boulder taller than you. Search the base for the second clue.

Continue traveling down the trail away from the power lines, follow all the way to the bottom of the hill to where there is a three-trail triangle. Take a left. Be sure to stay on the main trail.

Continue until you reach another “T”. Take a (clue from second box). Now keep an eye out for a green square on a tree at the edge of the trail. Directly behind the tree there is a flat stone. Again searching the base, you will find the third clue.

Continue down the trail in the same direction until reaching the power lines, following the power lines down the hill bearing left under them. Follow this trail, again noted by green squares, looking for your second right. Noticing along the way dual stone walls running parallel to the trail.

After taking the second right, go down the hill, back over a stream that may or may not be running, and keep an eye for a trail on the left marked by a small sign reading “hiking trail”.

With your back against the tree below the sign, take a compass reading of (clue from the third box). Once you obtain the correct direction, taking 15 steps will direct you to the letterbox.

Thank you and have a good day :)
