This letterbox was created and placed by our boys. They had a lot of fun with it and explored this brand new trail along the way. They chose their favorite animal for the stamp.
It is a wide, cleared, short 0.5 mile trail but you do have to walk up two small hills to get to the trail.
Park directly behind Johnston High School in the lot labeled soccer complex. There is a closer lot but it is often locked and is labeled for handicapped use only.
Enter the cement path through the yellow poles and follow it uphill until you reach the bluish building. Stay left at the building and continue to follow the cement path up another hill into a parking lot. Continue left through this lot until you reach the end. There will be a sign on your right that says Nature Trail Walk. Enter trail here. You will notice a tall rock with a point on top on the left and a great rock to stand on and take pictures from on the right. Continue on the path, noticing a tree in the shape of a V with an orange marker on it. You will see a caution sign and more orange markers, continue on trail until you see a 4 trees sharing a trunk.
Stop here and stand with your back to the extension that bears the orange marker. Look across the path and to the left. See the tree stump that stands about a foot tall? In that stump you will find the letterbox. The top of the stump is placed over the box.
There is an "extra" surprise hidden inside for the first finder. Thank you and please re-hide well :) You can continue down the trail and will exit close to your car.
