Come along with us on the trail of the Emigrants, who after reaching the Boise River in 1853 had to travel by wagon 30 miles to find a good crossing. We will take you on a short journey over the bridge and down by the riverside.
To get to the Emigrant Crossing: If traveling I-84 West, take Notus/Parma Exit #26. Turn right off exit onto Hwy 20-26. Go less than a block and turn right onto Hwy. 30 (If traveling I-84 East, take Parma Exit #26 and turn left off exit onto Hwy. 20-26, cross the overpass and stop at the stop sign). Take a right on Hwy 30 and drive until a bridge is in view and you see a place to pull off the right side of the road by some boulders. If you pass the bridge you've gone too far. There will be a history marker here called "Emigrant Crossing". Feel free to read it and learn all about the Emigrants journey in 1853.

FISHY FISHY IN THE BROOK LETTERBOX
The emigrants decided to fish for their dinner first before crossing this small bridge and setting up camp. From the parking area you will see 2 bridges. Go to the lower bridge with the 5 turn keys on it. Directly accross from the turn keys on the south side of the bridge there are several holes under the cement wall/divider. In one of these small holes will be the letterbox with a few leaves in front of it. Please remember to put the leaves back in front of box when done.

STARRY STARRY NIGHT LETTERBOX
After a long day of traveling and fishing they decided to set up camp not far from this bridge. From the end of the bridge you are currently standing on at Letterbox #1 go aprx. 34 paces/68 steps to the East, you will find some good size rocks at the end of this road. Under the middle large rock are 2-3 small removable rocks. Look behind them for this letterbox.

UPSTREAM FISHING
A new day has arrived. Need to go down to the river to catch some more fish for breakfast. Yummmy...more fish!! To your left (N) will be another main path. Follow it down to the large bridge. Take time out to skip some rocks or inspect the writing on the walls under the bridge. To the right of the bridge heading Southeast is a path that follows the along the river. Take this path until you come to a smaller path on your left. It will be the first one you come to. Follow it down to the river 11 paces/22 steps (stepping over a tree stump in the way) and find the large tree that leans out over the water. While stepping out onto a couple large heavy limbs, look on the left side of the tree about 3-4 feet up where there is a large cluster of leaves. Hidden down in the nook will be the mini letterbox. Careful not to lose your balance!
**** Please Be Sure to be discreet on all these letterboxes as this is in an extremely popular area in the summertime. The kids here would probably throw it down the river & laugh while they are jumping off the bridge. Enjoy =)
