1. Start at the Poudre River Trail parking lot on highway 257 on the east side of Windsor.
2. Travel east on the trail until you arrive at the seasonal maintenance sign.
3. Look right, toward the river, to spot the fallen log.
4. Go to the log, and turn your back to the mountains.
5. As you look east, you will see the mammoth tree. Look in the base of the tree.
