On this one-year anniversary of our first letterboxing experience with our children, we wanted to place our first letterbox in memory of our twins whom God chose to keep for Himself. Our hope and prayer is that if anyone has suffered a loss of any kind, they would be able to ‘seek’ Him out for strength and comfort.
From I-10, take the Orange Grove exit east then turn right on River Road. Once on River Road, go about 4 ½ miles and turn right on N. 15th Avenue. Turn right on W. Edgewater Drive and then turn left on N. 15th Place which takes you to the small parking lot of the Children’s Memorial Neighborhood Park. Park hours are 7am to 10pm.
From this eastern parking lot follow the sidewalk to visit the children. Be sure to visit the small girl praying, read the letter to parents and prepare yourself for a magic carpet ride.
Climb on your magic carpet and head 160º from magnetic for 35 steps to the intersection. Fly eastward, staying to the right to dodge the two-wheeled machines. Before crossing over the rainbow, head toward the Catalina Mountains off the beaten path. Follow this path to the rocky courtyard. While surrounded by tables inside the rocky courtyard, spy the yucca garden to the north. Point your magic carpet 55º and head for the base of the mesquite tree. You will uncover your treasure from beneath the flagstone.
