The "Little Red School House" is in the Lagunitas School District, a one-school school district, and one of the smallest in the state of California. It houses grades K-8 and is found in charming Steinbeck country.

From Highway 101, going southbound, take Crazy Horse Canyon Road 3.9 miles to the stop sign at San Juan Grade Road. Locate the historic plaque for the Battle of Natividad, across from this intersection at a turnout. Look at the school house across the road. On the right side of the entrance driveway is a multi-branched oak tree. The box is hidden in the center crook of this tree, covered with leaves.

From Highway 101, going northbound, take Boronda Road exit, turn east. At the second light, turn left onto San Juan Grade road. Proceed 4.1 miles to the intersection with Crazy Horse Canyon road. Locate the historic plaque for the Battle of Natividad, located on the right at a turnout. Look at the school house across the road. On the right side of the entrance driveway is a multi-branched oak tree. The box is hidden in the center crook of this tree, covered with leaves.

Warning: this can be a busy area, so be careful crossing the road. Be stealthy!
