MISSING 2/2008

This letterbox is placed in memory of our Nana, who was a 'free spirit' like the dragonflies she loved. She had a Japanese tea house in her backyard in southern Mississippi where she relaxed much like the Japanese tea garden you will visit here. Proceed to Monte Sano State Park. After you go through the 'gate' where you pay, follow the signs to the country store. You want to park in the parking lot in front of the country store. Go to the right side of the country store around to the back edge of the building. You will see a trail in the woods to your right. Follow this trail to the Japanese Tea Garden. You will cross one red bridge. You can't miss the large teahouse with round windows on the sides. One side of the teahouse is raised above the ground a little forming a deck that is above ground level. Near the center on this side is a moss covered rock on the ground. Search in the space behind this rock for the "Free Spirit". Please replace and hide well, this is a travelled spot! Be careful, as sometimes we see broken glass around the tea house, unfortunately. There are two other boxes in the park that we have hidden if you wish to find them, also--"Squirrly" & "Sun/Moon/Stars". All of these hikes are kid and dogs-on-leashes friendly. The Free Spirit is less than .5 of a mile.
