Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability, effecting 1 in 150 births. Currently, every 20 minutes a child is diagnosed with autism. Lifelong costs can be reduced by 2/3 with early diagnosis and intervention. We have faith that the pieces of the puzzle will be put together soon.
Directions to Mowry Conservation Area, Smithfield, RI: Take 295 to exit 8b. Follow route 7 towards Bryant College. Take a left onto Washington Highway. Then, take a right onto route 104. Take a left onto Old Forge Road and Mowry Conservation Area will be on the right. Street parking is available across from the entrance.
Clues from trailhead: Follow the trail straight in and cross the bridge. Hike to the top of the hill. At the top of the hill, follow the red trail to the right. Where the red trail meets up with the yellow trail, follow the yellow trail to the right. Continue on the yellow trail until you come to a very large cluster of rock. Just before the rock, there will be yellow markers on two trees diagonally across from each other. Locate the interesting tree growing out from the middle of the rock. Directly behind the tree, near the top of the rock there is a nook with a slate in front of it. Remove the slate and you will find the piece of the puzzle that you have been looking for.
If you continue on the yellow trail, the terrain is steep and rough.
