This box was planted at the Dive in and Plant a Box Mini Meet on July 28, 2007.
Shakamak hosted many Mid-States AAU Championship Swim Meets, drawing a huge attendance. A floating platform and a 5 and 10 meter diving platform (called the "16" and "32" by local swimmers preferring to measure the heights approximately in feet) was created for the meets and remained open and in use by the general swimming public until the 1990s when Shakamak lake was closed to swimming and a swimming pool was constructed. To recognize this history many of the attendees of the gathering created boxes related to a diving theme.
Clues:
Park at the Lake Lenape boat ramp lot. Trail #3 heads east by the restrooms at the SE corner of the lot. Head down the steps, cross four bridges, pass a bench on the left and cross a covered bridge. At the next set of stairs (which aren’t the most level) you’ll find the box just under the corner of the bottom step on the right covered with leaves.
After stamping in, please make sure to secure the box lid and place completely under the step and cover well with the leaves.
