The Quest for the Holy Grail

A young man was seeking his father’s wisdom. Asking his father what wisdom he had for him, his father responded by sending him on a hunt for the Holy Grail.

“The Holy Grail!?” said the young man “no such thing exists.”

“Oh, but you asked for my wisdom and I am sending you to it.” His father casually explained. “Patience and commitment will help you find my wisdom.”

The young man settled in to hear his father’s directions.

“Seek the town of Liberal, Kansas.”

The young man’s jaw dropped. “Liberal, Kansas? You’re kidding right?”

“’That’s right…if you make insight (wisdom) your priority…searching for it like a prospector panning for gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt” Proverbs 7:1 you will head to Liberal, Kansas to a street that is named after the Sunflower State.” The father instructed. “Head South to find the wisdom you seek.”

“When we drink the cup of blessing, aren’t we taking into ourselves the blood, the very life of Christ?” 1 Corinthians 10:15

“You will see a place to cool off in the warmth of summer, turn right?” his father continued.

“So where does Wisdom come from? And where does Insight live? It can’t be found by looking no matter how deep you dig, no matter how high you fly. If you search through the graveyard and question the dead they say, ‘we’ve only heard rumors of it’” Job 28:20

“Father, when does this search end? Can you not tell me your wisdom with out a search?” the young man questioned.

With no urgency or annoyance the father responded by reassuring hi son “You’ll have a greater understanding of my wisdom if you seek the grail on your own. I can not give you the wisdom you must claim it on your own.” After a pause and a slight grimace, the son urged his father to continue. “Head down the road past houses until you meet up with the Far East, a place Christ might have been while he roamed the Earth, and you must turn left.”

“The Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming.” Mal 3:1

The father continued “In-between 8th and 9th St. is a house of worship to the one true Lord. This is a place where you can find eternal Hope.” His father rested his voice.

“Can you keep going or should I let you rest?” inquires the son.

“No I am feeling fine it’s just the memories of my time spent at this place are so fond. I will continue. There is a patch of grass like a valley between to mountains. You must seek the wisdom in order to reach the peak of the mountain.”

“This commandment that I'm commanding you today isn't too much for you, it's not out of your reach. It's not on a high mountain—you don't have to get mountaineers to climb the peak and bring it down to your level and explain it before you can live it. And it's not across the ocean—you don't have to send sailors out to get it, bring it back, and then explain it before you can live it. No. The word is right here and now—as near as the tongue in your mouth, as near as the heart in your chest. Just do it!” Deut. 30:11

His father explained “On the West facing side of the tallest structure there will be three poles.”

“Two others, both criminals, were led out to be executed with him. 33 When they came to a place called The Skull they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified—one on his right and one on his left.” Luke 23:32

“One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it” But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43
“Look to the middle cross where you will find the Holy Grail. The wisdom you seek sits at its base. The promise to lead a peaceful, rich, and whole life lies inside. Take the wisdom from the box and glance at that middle pole and remember. It was him who gave you the chance for wisdom and a life that is only in your dreams.”
“Is that it? No more? When can I start this journey?” The son asked.
The last thing the father said was “Right now, no time is soon enough.”
