Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park is located in northeast Florida midway between Gainesville and Jacksonville, 6 miles north of Keystone Heights on S.R. 21.
There are many trails within the park, but to find the path you are looking for you must start by decending many steps. At the bottom of the steps, two trails will be available. Follow the trail that is not named after a plant. The beginning of the trail will take you past the sweet gum(1), then across a bridge. Continue on this trail past the saw palmetto(2) and the southern magnolia(3). Behind the flowering dogwood(4), the letterbox will be found in the hollow stump of a fallen tree. Don't forget to watch out for snakes & recover the box with leaves!
