Go to Tynehead Park. Park at the 161st St entrance (Serpentine Hollow picnic area). From the parking lot, take the left trailhead. Go across the boardwalk. No time for a picnic! Go down the stairs instead. Walk in between cut logs and past a big stump on your left - keep going straight, don't turn. Take a seat on a bench - M.J.M.C. Straight ahead you will see a likely place to find a maple leaf - a moss-covered maple tree. Perhaps there's a maple leaf in a hole at the base on the left.
