Temescal is located next to the Highway 24/Highway 13 interchange in Oakland. Ample parking is available at the north end of the park, accessible from Broadway. To find your treat, start at this North Entrance parking lot. (Parking fee of $5 may be charged - there is often no parking attendant present. You can also park on Broadway.)

Walk down the easy, paved service vehicle path from the parking lot toward the BEACH HOUSE. Go about 1/10 of a mile with the highway to your left until you get to a stone bench on your right. A few short paths converge here.

When you see the bench, follow the fence behind the stone bench with your eyes toward the right. Next to the bench you should see a tree, and just a little further down the fence/railing you'll see a NO FISHING sign. Between the tree and the sign is a greenish metal box jutting out from the fence over the water below. Your treat is in this box, stuck to the inside with magnets. If you bend down and look up under the box you should be able to see it. Watch for passers by when you retrieve and return the box. I'm not sure what this metal box is used for or how often, so I'm not sure how long this letterbox will last - enjoy this tasty tidbit while you can.

Temescal is a convenient urban oasis, popular for swimming, fishing, sunbathing, and picnicking. Work off your dessert by enjoying the lake, playground, and trails!
