This letterbox was placed as a school project for 4th and 5th grade students at Campus Community School in Dover, Delaware. The students learned about mapping, compasses, nature and writing directions for other people to follow!!
All four letterboxes are hidden in Silver Lake Park in Dover, Delaware. You can park in either parking lot--the main entrance or the beach lot off of State Street. All four letterboxes, however, are more conveniently started from the beach parking lot.
Park at the beach parking lot,
#1 Where you will start,
There is sand and water,
This place rhythms with peach,
Stand between the 2 wooden posts,
Go 44 paces that are south.
#2 Walk to where the monkeys play,
They go back and forth,
All night and all day,
Were they play it is the color of bananas.
#3 Now go 40 paces east,
Now where you are at we swing back and forth,
Now go south (take the right fork) and sit in the shade.
#4 Where you are at you can stop to eat,
Then go east/south east along the path,
Until you’re even with the 1st bench along the water, (not a table)
Walk to the bench.
#5 Now take the time and feel the breeze.
Now walk around and put your back to the back of the bench.
Now go ten steps northwest,
Stop at this tree and look under it’s knee.
