The Star Gazing letter box was placed by a local Brownie Girl Scout troop. It is a quick one to find, but make sure you also visit "Take a Gander" and "Stars and Stripes". It is located in Panthorn Park, home of Southington's National Trails Day Festival to be held on June 3, 2006.

Driving directions: ~From I-84 West through Southington, take Meriden-Waterbury Rd. exit 28 (route 322). At the end of the ramp turn right. Go to the next light and turn left onto Ruggles Row. ~ From I-84 East take the Meriden-Waterbury Rd. exit 28 (Route 322). At the light, go straight across to Ruggles Row. Go to the Stop sign, turn left onto Burritt Street. Go over the I-84 overpass, continue downhill about ¼ mile and the entrance to Panthorn Park is on the right.

Drive in past the Maintenance buildings. When you get to the colorful Children’s Playscape turn left into the gravel parking lot.

From here, walk across the wooden bridge by the pond and turn north between the two benches to find the start of the trail marked by a yellow pipe. After you pass the picnic table, turn right at the unmarked pole. Take about 20 steps and to your left you will see a tree with 5 trunks. Walk around the tree, and if you are about 5 feet tall, at eye level it will be.
