Maine has a long and not so long history of small locally- owned ski areas...most of them are lost to us now...there were around 75 of these ski hills with rope tows back in the 1950's-60's. We hope this quaint little hill with a great view of the Presque Isle golf course and town from the summit will survive for many more years to come...Quoggy Joe Ski Hill. Leave Presque Isle and head toward Fort Fairfield...at the crest of the hill about 5 miles from town you will see a tiny ski lodge and hill on your left. Park here.

Hike, hike toward the top,
See the T-bar but do not stop.

Once you're halfway on the ski hill,
Look and listen, stand very still.

Near the fifth red pole, you're on course,
Walk toward the "tree island", near the source.

There is an entrance facing west,
You never know, you may spot a nest.

Quietly and peacefully search and seek,
Beneath the sticks and pine needles you will peek.

Please return so others may find,
Leave only a stamp or name and date signed.
