Once a major source of turpentine mining, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is now a vibrant wetland and coastal dune preserve.
Off U.S. Hwy 98, turn south on Topsail Road between dawn and dusk. Grab a map at the honor-system gate, and head for Morris Lake nature trail on the right.
Around the first bend, on the left is a rail to hitch your seahorse. Go behind it and look for the trail on the right going up the hill. A fallen tree blocks the path. Under the saw palmetto at the base of this tree on the right lies the prize.
