2727 Presidio Drive, Presidio Park

Old Town State Historic Park is where the city of San Diego began. The original mission and presidio were nearby; the town developed below as retired soldiers and settlers built homes here.

Park in the lot just south of the Presidio (on the other side of the street from the statue of the Indian). . There is a 4' stucco wall surrounding the lot. Go through the gate on the west side of the wall and follow the dirt trail to the right, pass the statue of the Padre and up the stone steps to the brick and mortar cross. Walk to the right of the cross onto the lawn.

Make your way to the stucco wall on the far side of the lawn. Follow the wall NorthEast to the observation tower. Walk past the observation tower and find the drinking fountain. Put your back to the fountain. There is a grove of trees to your east.

Face North and take 9 paces to a tree. Turn East and take 18 paces to the second stump (the largest). The letterbox is hidden under a brick sized rock and leaves. Please replace in its hidden location and let me know if you find it!
