Sorry, this one has gone missing! 5/20/05
Will work on replacement.
This series is dedicated to the NBA coaches, players and especially the FANS who love the game on TV, in the streets, in the schoolyards and at the neighborhood parks.
#1 The Memphis Grizzlies. We picked this as our first team because they have no superstar players. Theirs is a team effort fueled by the influence of their recently retired coach, Hubie Brown. Coach Brown led the team for two seasons and propelled a team with a losing record (never better than 28 wins)to 30 wins before the All-Star break. They took their division title for the first time ever and made it into the first round playoffs against the San Antonio Spurs.
Hubie Brown, retired at 71 yrs old in Nov. 2004 after coaching the Atlanta Hawks 1976-81 with a coach of the year award in 1978.
He coached the New York Knicks 1982-87.
He was an NBA telecast announcer 1987-2002.
Coached the Memphis Grizzlies 2002-04 with coach of the year award 2004.
Lessons from Coach Brown:
#1 Be on time
#2 Play hard
#3 Know your job
Coach we salute you!!

To get to this letterbox exit the 60 Fwy in Ontario at Mountain Ave. Head north toward Mount Baldy. Make a left one blk. north at Philadelphia. Go west 1 mile to Oaks Ave. and make a right (north). Park in the lot and locate the basketball court. From the NE corner of the court walk north on the sidewalk past the baseball and softball diamonds. Duck under the railing and go right (east) on the horse path. Follow it around the curve. At the end of the cactus garden you will notice a eucalyptus stump on your left. You will find the the box in the top cavity.
While in the park keep going south and say hello to some of our favorite friends named Morgan.
Thanks for looking up our box,
