Terrain: Hardy family, approximately 1 mile round trip, recommend non-slip footware, trail can be slippery when wet.
Clues:Easy
Start your adventure at Kee Beach and proceed up the Kalalau Trail which is one of the most beautiful and famous trails in the world. Because this is such a popular hike you may have to wait for a parking space. Although your prize will be found in 1/2 mile or less we would recommend that you pack a lunch and plan to continue your hike another 1 1/2 miles to Hanakapiai Beach if you have the time.
Approximately 1/4 mile on the Kalalau Trail you should pass a trickling waterfall on your left which may or may not be trickling depending on the rainfall. You will come to a breathtaking ocean view on your right. Proceed to 6 log steps. From the top of the 6th step take 40 paces. This will take you thru the 1st switchback (hairpin turn) and on the left you will find a V-shaped tree. Your prize lies under the tree to the right, next to the V-shaped tree under some rocks.
Please be discreet as this is such a well traveled path and secure back under the rocks so that the box doesn't wash away in a heavy rain.
Kee Beach is a nice respite at the return of your hike and a popular sunset spot.
We can only visit every 2 years since we live VERY far away so it would be great if you can keep us updated as to the condition of the box.
MAHALO!!!!
