THE GODS AND GODDESSES OF ANCIENT EGYPT (PT 2)
It is rightly said that the 'Dawn of Conscience' occurred in Ancient Egypt. There was belief in a 'Great God', the supreme deity from which all else came, and from which emerged Ma'at, the quality of being in right-relationship with the surrounding world.
There were the roots of morality and ethics, the idea that this life was a passage into the next, and that what happened on that passage was determined by one's conduct in the here and now. These concepts were the anchor of Egyptian life, and were well in place five thousand years ago.
Egyptian gods and goddesses were personifications of essential aspects of human life, representing the most powerful and potent forces. These forces are exactly the same today. In these letterboxes, you will meet the twelve gods and goddesses (2 more are in this series). Chosen for their well-defined characteristics and the strength of their influence--and the forces they personify.

Hidden in the Lime Rock Preserve in Lincoln. A nice little 2 mile walk along an abandoned rail bed and a pond. Take Rt. 295 to Rt. 7 south, a left onto Limerock Rd. Cross Rt 123 to Wilbur Rd. Preserve will be on left with a room for a couple cars. If you reach Rt 246 you've gone too far.

CLUES: ( found ok already!! 7/18--7/19)
Once parked, follow the trail north. This is the old abandoned railbed. You will follow this for about ½ mile. You will see some condos up to your left. Past the pond to your right.
Once past the pond, begin to look for a trail leading off to the right. It is near a few birch trees (some were fallen when we were here).
Follow trail, over a stone bridge near a large boulder to the right. A short ways past this boulder, stay alert for a tree of 5 near the left of the trail. From this tree of 5, take 35 paces at 55°. Across from the beginning of a small ledge, find a small rock here. Under it's NE side, under rocks, you will find "AMON". Please re-hide well!
Back on the trail and continue. Passing some ledges on your left. Ignore a side trail to the left and continue, crossing an earthen dam on the southern edge of pond. I took a picture from here.
Crossing the dam, take the next right and follow for a bit. When the trail climbs and swings right, look for a stone wall to the south. Search where 2 stone walls intersect for "KEPHRI". The intersection can be seen between the V of two large trees. Re-hide well!
Back onto the trail where you will soon come to a T. A left here will take you back to your car. Hope you had fun today! Let us know how the boxes are doing.
