WHERE IN THE WORLD IS LOCKVILLE?
Lockville Park is in Lockville, Ohio. Makes sense, doesn't it? (I can almost hear Jeff Foxworthy saying, "Here's your sign!") There are two ways to get there from US Rt. 33. Either take Pickerington Road South off US Rt. 33 north of Lancaster and Carroll, Ohio into Lockville OR take Winchester Road West at the light at Rt 33 in Carroll, Ohio and then turn right or north on Pickerington Road into Lockville. Either way, once you get onto Pickerington Road and you find your way into Lockville you can't miss it. The park is on the west side of Pickerington Road. There are two entrances...and as you will see, it doesn't matter which entrance you take!

The little six acre park has a shelter house with 4+ picnic tables,a drinking fountain, and a path along approximately 2000 feet of original Ohio-Erie Canal basin. Along the canal are 3 sets of intact sandstone locks, in use from 1832 to 1913. Also, one of Fairfield County's covered bridges, the Hartman II bridge, built in 1887/88 by William Funk, was moved to the park site in 1967. This bridge was constructed using the Queenpost Truss type and is 48 feet long. Of further interest is that the park is adjacent to the old Scioto Valley Traction line.

LEAD THE WAY TO THE LETTERBOX!

Shelter House.

Go to the Hartman II Covered Bridge.

Use the covered bridge to cross the canal basin and go to the far edge of the bridge.

There are 4 large pines close to you. Not the one directly to your left, but the next one to your left is where you want to go.

On the low side of the bank look about 3 feet off the ground and about 4 feet or so away from the trunk for a hanging camo box! PLEASE BE SURE to hide/hang the box back in the same place so that the next person can also find it.

***This is a waterproof container as long as the lid is screwed on properly.

*** Be sure to walk that mowed path along the canal basin to the next set of locks too. You CAN also walk back to the 3rd lock but please stay on the LEFT side up on the trail that has brush, rather than walk on resident's mowed lawns.

Bonus #1: I have two more letterbox placed in this park and Safari Man has one as well!!!

Bonus #2: I found a geocashing box here by mistake! If you are into geocaching, look it up before you leave!

Please be decrete and let me know if you find these boxes!
