Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 1.3 miles RT)
Recommended Ink: blue & green
Status: alive
Bear Lake is often called the "Caribbean of the Rockies" for its intense turquoise-blue water, and a great place to see it is at the Bear Lake Overlook rest area on Logan Canyon Scenic Byway. After enjoying the view you can find this box nearby on the Limber Pine Trail.
Directions:
Go west on US 89 about 5.5 miles to Bear Lake Overlook rest area on the left for view of the lake, then continue another mile to parking for Limber Pine Trail on the left.
Clues:
Walk on trail next to restrooms and go right short way to loop trail and go right (counter-clockwise) to sign #12 on right with view of Bear Lake. Go left off trail 12 steps up to large double-trunk pine tree. LB is at back base under a rock & needles. Be sure to check out the large limber pine tree at sign #10 on the way.
Hike length: 1-2 miles
