**** Part of the Old Schoolhouses of Texas Series ***

I am guessing in normal times you could go up to building, and I would have hid in back of where trees are, but they are in lock down due to virus, so box is along road. I suggest acting like you are taking pictures of the building when you get box. Here is the history of the Winedale Schoolhouse:
This one-room schoolhouse was built around 1894 a quarter mile northeast of its present location. The school served the predominantly German Winedale community both as an elementary school until 1943 and for Lutheran Church services until 1945. The building served as a hay barn before it was moved to its present location in 1992. Former Winedale students restored the school and donated it to the University of Texas at Austin in 1994.

Directions:
From Roundtop, go east on FM1457, then left on FM 2714. In about 5 miles you will come to Winedale and Historic complex on left, and school will be on right of road. Go just past school and park on side of road near the wooden birdhouse on the fence.

To the Letterbox:
Walk to the birdhouse, then left to the 1st Trees. Box in middle base under leaves.

Hike length: 0.1 miles
