I placed this letter box along the route I take when I make my overnight cycling trips from North Austin to Shiner. This time I was only going as far as Bastrop State Park the first day. I camped there and the next day, I planned on cycling Park Road 1C and visiting Smithville to look for geocaches. Then I would camp at Rocky Hill Ranch and next day ride in the Holy Roller gravel ride put on by Bicycle Sport Shop.

The location of this letterbox is along one of my favorite county roads, CR 157. This would make for a great bike ride with a few hills but mostly flat roads. No gravel on this section.

Start at the intersection of Chestnut and Main Street in downtown Bastrop. Go north on Main Street out of Bastrop for 2.32 miles to the Y in the road. Take the left fork onto County Road 157 (Sayers Road). After another 0.83 miles you will cross the railroad tracks. Continue along CR 157 for another 1.58 miles until you reach a bend in the road. To the left you can see the Colorado river. The total distance to this point from the start is 4.77 miles. Face south and look at the guard rail. The letterbox is behind the 11th post, counting from the west. It is attached with magnets to the guard rail.
