John S. Harrison went into the stage line business with his brother-in-law William McCulloch in the mid-1840s, forming the Harrison and McCulloch Stage Line. In 1852 he and his wife Martha moved to Selma and built a one-room home so they could run the nearby Selma Stage Stop. They only stayed two years and the Freisenhahn family eventually purchased the house and made improvements before moving out in 2001. The house was added to the National Registry of Historic Places and is designated as a state archaeological landmark by the Texas Historical Commission. The house was recently restored and a pavilion was added along with a trail to the Stage Stop, where you can find this box.

Directions:
Going North on I35, take exit #174A & just before the stop sign take a right on Valhalla. Going South on I35, take exit #174A & continue to the second stop sign, then take a left on Evans Road to Valhalla and take a left. Continue to Winged Foot and go left to jct with Pinseeker and continue straight into John S. Harrison City Park and park by pavilion on left.

Clues:
Walk right from pavilion to sign with map at entrance to the historic site. Go behind the map across the grass to the Historic Evans Road Trail and go right on it to the Harrison House on the right. Continue straight on trail until it bends to the right. Continue straight 28 steps to a multi-trunk tree just one step from the trail on the right. You are almost under the power lines. Continue on the trail 2 more steps, then turn right and take 6 steps, stepping over low barbed-wire, to two small trees next to each other. LB is at back of them under a rock & leaves. You can go the other direction (left) on the Evans Road Trail a short way to my Selma Stage Stop box.

Hike length: 0.1 miles
