My Mom has raved about the loveliness of Michigan since before I was born, so we finally made the trek from Texas up to the two peninsulas. It was delightful for her to take us to all her old haunts around Grand Rapids, & for us to explore the upper peninsula.
As you are heading up I-75 NB, there is a lovely rest stop about 20 miles before Mackinaw City. The rest stop has a scenic overlook as well as a nature trail. The box is hidden along the nature trail. As you head up the nature trail from the restroom parking lot, you'll weave right & left, but kind of keep level. Then you will come to one tall straight hill. At the crest of this hill, you will notice a trio of trees that are grown into a circle just large enough for you to wedge yourself into the center. If you stand at the top of the hill facing south, with the circle of trees on your right, glance a bit off the trail & a bit back to the right, you will see a double trunked tree. The trunk on the right has a blue spot spray painted on it. The box is nestled in between the trunks covered with bark & wedged in with a fallen tree. If you park up at the scenic overlook & head down the trail, you will notice when you come to the top of the straight, tall hill, the trio tree will be on the left as will be the double trunked tree.
Please be sure & be stealthy when collecting this box & be sure to wedge it back in between the trunks firmly!
