An abrazzo is a friendly hug, a greeting of mutual respect and acceptance.
From I-80 Westbound, take exit 302 for Bartonsville and at the end of the ramp turn left onto PA 611. Travel NW for 2.9 miles until you get to Cherry Lane Road and turn right. Go for 2.8 miles to Bog Road and turn right. You will pass the official parking (usually closed) for the bog after 2.3 miles. Once on Bog Road, go for about 0.5 miles and you will see a cut out parking area on your left just after you come down a small hill. From the parking cut-out, spot the kiosk for the Northwoods trail.
Before you start, notice the downed tree on the left as you start for the kiosk. The root end of the tree is similar to what you will be looking for.
From the kiosk, hike to the left and continue about 1/10 mile (for me that is a bit over 100 paces). Pass a tall pointed holey snag on the left as you make a right-hand turn. You may have just made a left-hand turn right before that. Then look for 2 trees close together, one larger than the other. The larger one has a light-colored broken branch sticking out of its right side. Across the trail see the long dead tree with the root end exposed that is similar to the one I hope you noticed at the beginning of your hike. Look behind the root end for what you seek.
Retrace your steps or continue on for a longer hike.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
