This letterbox is part of the GO and Build a Better World! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 3, 2017 to August 20, 2017. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Build a Better World! program requires you to search for up to 30 “landmarks” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please use a colored pencil or crayon to carefully rub the impression onto your GO and Build a Better World! rubbing sheet, available for free at any York County Library.
This letterbox is located at Springettsbury Township Park. GO York! level of difficulty = Easy.
- Park in the parking area near the tennis courts.
- Start your trek by facing the park “Welcome” sign.
- You will see a diagonal path on your right. Follow that path as it crosses over two paved “roads.”
- Continue down the hill and past the area where music may be heard outdoors.
- When you reach the brick area with two triangular gardens, walk up to the black iron fence.
- Turn left and follow the path as it passes between a scoreboard and bleachers.
- You will reach a Y in the path – stay to the right.
- Stop at the 3rd lightpost and turn to your left.
- Almost straight in front of you and 50 yards away are two tall evergreen trees next to each other. (A row of four pine trees will be to their right.)
- The post you seek is at the base of these two trees.
- Return to your vehicle the way you came.
