He watches over His nest like an eagle and hovers over His young; He spreads His wings, catches him, and lifts him up on His pinions.
Deuteronomy 32:11
Father eagles help in raising their young. They take turns with the females as they incubate their eggs. Also, the males have a brood patch (bare skin where the bird plucks its own feathers to regulate temperature to aid incubation), just like the females. All of this just to ensure the eaglets grow up safe & strong.
We first came here with friends, one of which enjoys nature watching & hiking. She had found the eagle & nest near where our LB is hid. Hope you enjoy the walk & spy some eagles & their young.
CLUES- Enter McFarland Park through the main entrance. Park in the parking lot to the right, near driving range.
Face west. As you begin to walk, stay in the shade. Keep the large pines on your left, driving range on your right. Pay attention!
150, 200, 250...
1 CREENOCT WEERS EOHL
Round the rise, keep your eyes on the prize!
2 CREENOCT WEERS EOHL
Keep the pair directly behind you, facing the Singing River. Walk forward to the closest pine tree. Your prize is on the other side 6-7 ft up.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
