Box 1
(The title of this clue alludes to the names of these streets during the Revolutionary War period, not their current-day names.)

Near the eastern part of the Green
Find the tree that dies or lives free,
Once planted for the states thirteen
To celebrate new liberty.

A house stood here in days of yore
Built by Judge Ebenezer Marsh,
Colonel in the Seven Years War.
Towards Sons of Liberty he was harsh

And supported not their cause.
Round Marsh’s plot walk to the west
‘Bout twenty paces and then pause--
In the bushes left you’ll find your chest.

Box 2 "Where's my Horse?"

At this site you will find the Litchfield Law School, America’s first formal law education institution. Established in 1784 by Tapping Reeve, approximately 1,000 students from all over the United States and eight other countries walked through the law school’s doors until its closure in 1833. These students would go on to hold many prominent positions in our newly formed government, including vice president, U.S. congressmen, state senators, state governors, and supreme court justices, as well as businessmen, lawyers and educators.

Clue:
There is a small schoolhouse in town
Whose walls are wooden and brown
1000 students educated in all
About proceedings of the law
After Reeve helped oppose the British crown.
To find the object that you seek
Take a walk down the South Street
Have a rest on the bench
Your thirst for history you will quench
You will find your box near the seat.
