Question: Does It Ever Snow in Memphis? Answer: The short answer is, not much.
Statistically, Memphis receives an average of 5.3 inches of snow per year. This amount is spread out over the duration of the winter and may include several different snowfalls. Many longtime residents of Memphis maintain that the city used to receive more snow than it does today. Theories to explain why that would occur include global warming, the idea that the bluffs of the Mississippi River deflect the snow, and the "Pyramid theory" which suggests that the Pyramid Arena deflects snow storms coming in from the west.
Flake 1: To find these 2 flakes, make your way to the Visitor Center at TO Fuller State Park at 1500 W Mitchell Rd, Memphis, TN. Across the street from the Visitor Center is a Trail Head Sign with a map of the trails. Start down this path. 60 steps from the trail head is a HUGE tree on the right. On the back of the tree is a big hole opening at the base of the tree. The box is in the smaller hole above the big hole opening, covered by dirt and leaves.
Flake 2: Continue on the trail, which generally heads down. After about 1/3 of a mile you reach a low point where it looks like water must rush through when it's raining. Past this low point you walk up a small incline to a small peak on the trail. 30 steps past this peak is a thick double tree on the right about 6 steps off the path. Trunk splits about 2 feet off the ground with a small hole on the front of the truck. Box is located behind this thick double tree dug down into the dirt at the base of the tree.
