Where wolves prowl…
Richmond’s Wolf Den 1 placed their first letterbox in April 2010 after completing several letterbox treasure hunts. The den worked hard to find the perfect hiding spot so please carefully rehide it once you’ve left your mark!
Directions: This box is hidden at the Beaver River Playground found on Beaver River Rd just off of Route 138 in Richmond RI. Park in the playground parking lot and begin at the Archway at the entrance.
Clues:
From under the wooden archway take 18 paces straight ahead to a staircase. Walk up the stairs and across the pirate’s bridge. Shimmy down the fireman’s pole and turn 45° to the right. Walk 35 kid paces to Wild Flower Way pausing for a minute to listen to the birds singing out in the field in front of you and the children laughing behind you. Follow Wild Flower Way to the far end of the field. Ahead of you slightly to the left is an opening through the trees. Through it you will find a narrow path curving through the forest. The path will lead to an open area with a brook where you might do a little fishing. Walk to the edge of the water and you will find a path along the water to your right. Follow the path until you find a scarred, double-trunk tree. From here count 22 paces more along the path until you find a triple trunk tree on the right. Look in its heart for our prize. Please return and rehide well for others to enjoy once you have left us a note. To return to your car follow the path back to the fishing area where you will find the path back towards the field. To enjoy more of the field, follow the path around to the right. This will lead you back to the playground and your car. Happy hunting and watch out for the wolves!
