Pioneers from the Ohio Valley often saw the Great Plains as a hostile environment. They could go for days without seeing a single tree. Consequently, this meant no wood for cooking and no shade for those hot summer days. But they found hope from afar when spotting the Cottonwood tree, who's shiny leaves shimmered and shook in the wind. Not only did this mean wood for cooking and shade from the hot sun, it also meant a chance of finding water, since the cottonwood tree likes to keep it's roots wet.

Our little bird, Fahrqhar, was like a pioneer and had lost his way. After flying for days, he finally found himself in Little Cottonwood Park. While flying the loop of the park, something caught his eye behind the baseball backstop. It was the shimmer of the cottonwood trees! At the 7th pole of the backstop, he swooped south east and came upon the trees and a dried creekbed. He made his home in the tree closest to the fence. Nestled between three rocks in front of the tree was the perfect place for lounging on warm, summer days. This is where you can often find him. Maybe you can find him digging for worms, under the brown rock.

Please be discreet when removing and resetting box. There are rocks to sit on while you do your stamping. Just don't sit on Fahrquhar, as he may be lounging!
