We're on vacation, enjoying a reprieve from the snow back home. Thought some letterboxes down here would be fun. Each could be considered a drive-by, but just wasn't positive so didn't want to list it as such.

As always, watch out for snakes when searching for the boxes ... you just never know. Use a stick to feel around when possible and keep your eyes peeled.

Enter the Palm Beach County South County Regional Park located at 11500 Yamato Road in Boca Raton. This is a great big park (847.98 acres to be precise) with many, many things to do, so you may want to pack a picnic, use the playground, bring your dog (on leash) take a walk, play basketball, baseball, tennis ... just a few of the activities to do! The park is open from sunrise to sunset.

Onto the clue!

Follow the road signs to the parking area for the remote control car track. Park here and face the track. You'll see a paved path that runs along the track to the right. Go around the corner until you're between the track (on your left) and baseball field (on your right). Locate the padlocked gate to the car track. With your back to the gate, you'll see a mound of trees. The one tree that you are facing has Lemon Meringue hiding at the base underneath some leaves to the back, easiest to retrieve if you go behind the tree and to the right. Please be discreet as there are many people nearby, although usually busy with their own activities. You can probably bring back to your car to stamp or find a grassy spot to sit. Only stamp and inkpad in this box. Logbook is in the last box (Strawberry Shortcake).

Onto the next ...

Back in your car, follow the signs for the tennis courts. Park in the tennis court lot that is closest to the water transfer station surrounded by a chain linked fence. Outside of your car walk alongside the chain link fence going toward the woods (or hammock area), at the end of the fence, turn left and walk along the flat embankment. Not too far along be looking down to your right spy the two friendly trees, both a bit gnarled. Huckleberry Pie rests at the base of one of these trees on the side that you spy. Again, you can bring back to your car, or find a spot in the grass to sit to stamp, but beware there is an observation deck for the Daggerwing Nature Center that may be busy. No logbook, only stamp and inkpad.

Last box ...

Strawberry Shortcake awaits you at the opposite end of this park. Back in your car follow the signs onward and be on the lookout for signs that direct you to the exit to Park Access Road. When you get to the sign that points forward for Coconut Cove Water Park, but points left for the exit to Park Access Road, take the left. Find a mini parking lot on the left built just for you right after the road splits and just before you would leave the park. Three spaces only, one handicapped. Park here. Keep your fingers crossed there's a space open. Walk through the open fence posts and head toward the exit. Find the last light pole on the right side of the road and face the woods. You'll see one gnarled tree in front of another. Strawberry is at the base of the tree behind buried under some leaves. Logbook is in this box. Happy stamping!

Give us a shout and let us know how the boxes are holding up.

ONE LAST NOTE Should a hurricane be looming, the boxes will be temporarily removed and placed back after the threat has passed.

As always, please rehide well and be discreet. Thanks for hunting!
