The Dell Diamond is home to the Round Rock Express, the AAA minor league baseball affiliate of the Houston Astros. Nolan Ryan, part owner, wanted a stadium in Austin but could not get the voter support that he needed to approve the city funds to help build the structure. Soon after, the city of Round Rock contributed $7.35 million to the $25 million cost of the facility. The city of Round Rock owns the ballpark and was generous enough to give the Express a 38 year lease. Dell Inc., which headquarters are in Round Rock, contracted for naming rights in a deal that will cost the company $2.5 million over a 15 year span.
Clues:
Find Round Rock’s famous diamond. Drive North on the left side of the diamond to the back of the parking lot. Look for a large tree next to a stump with no seating area. The diamond is inside the tree buried amongst the usual.
Please let us know the status of this box as it is a very heavily populated area during the spring and summer months.
