Bring your signature stamp, an ink pad, and something to write with. I could say this is a drive by but because of the openness of the area, stealth may be a problem for that kind of situation. Once the place is found and you are sure no one is looking it will only take you moments to retrieve it.

Lake Yahola is a man-made lake. It was built by the WPA and my Grandfather helped build it. Not long ago,
it was emptied to plug up holes and such, a very interesting site and not one you will likely see very often.
There are two parts to this lake, the dividing line being in line with the plaque, up the stairs. (update: 3-7-10:
there are three parts, instead) I am not very good online trying
to find information and was not able to find out the mystery of why the two parts. I suppose as money was
gathered it was decided to increase the size, my guess of course.
I hope you have a great day, and enjoy seeing this lake. I think it
is very pretty. Try your hand at catching a fish, ha ha, if you do please let me know as I have never caught
one there. There ARE supposed to be Walleye in there, and most likely perch, and even some catfish too.

Starting at the intersection of I-244 and N. Sheridan Road, drive north on N. Sheridan Rd, past Stop lights
1. King,
2. Pine, and
3. Virgin.
Passing Virgin you will see a sign saying HWY 11, take that highway by turning left to enter. Follow HWY 11 till you come to the
Harvard Exit, it will be on the right, exit, turn right onto Harvard, you are headed north now. Stay on Harvard till it ends at Mohawk Blvd,
turn right, there, and follow the curves, you can see the lake now!

Keep going till you come to a wide parking area on the left, turn in and stay to the left side, the tree line side, go up almost to the blue
gates and park. There are two sets of trees. The first set having three trunks, the second having only two. The second is the set you
will be using. If you park in front of this set, you are within about a foot of your quarry.
Right where the tree trunk and the guard rail come together, on the back side, is a hidey hole, it is covered with a twig 3/4"
around, behind that you will find your treasure. Set aside the twig, and retrieve the letterbox, return to your vehicle and stamp in.
Please replace the letterbox and twig right where you found it when you are through.

It is very important that you are discreet in your endeavor, as you may find, if on a weekend, that there are many people fishing near by.
I would almost suggest you come during the week, but know this may not be possible for all people.
Finished? Take a walk up the stair case and have a look at the plaque.

As with any other traditional letterbox, please log your find. Leave a comment if you wish, I would greatly appreciate hearing if it needs a new log book or any problems. Thanks, hope you have a great day letterboxing. Okie Dog
BTW, if you have the time, there are several more boxes by various author's in Mohawk Park, not far away, continue on the road you came in on to get there.
