The Norman-style Tower in Ethan Allen Park was built by the Vermont Society, Sons of the American Revolution, to honor Ethan Allen's life and deeds and as a memorial to him and his Green Mountain Boys. The historic tower at Ethan Allen Park is open for the season from 9am – Sunset, everyday. Bad weather may cause the Tower to be closed for safety reasons. Park in the lot. Make your way up the trail and go up to the tower. Go up the tower if you have the time. It gives you great 360 degree views of the area. As you exit the tower there will be a path that leads to the left next to a wire fence. Follow this path. Keep following the path a straight as possible. At one point it leans a little to the left but continue on it. You will end up in an area where there is an open field and a paved road. Here you have two choices #1 go to your right and the paved road will lead you to the gazebo and a nice outlook then return to where you exited the dirt path or #2 just take a left when you exit the dirt path and follow the road down. On your right there will be a wall of stone. Past the stone you will find, what in our house is called, "the bear cave". At the entrance of the bear cave is the stump of an old dead tree. Here you will find your box. Stamp up and then continue down the hill. The road will run into a road with traffic. Stay on the left hand side and you will see a path that will lead you right back to the playground where you started. Hope you enjoy your walk.
