This letterbox is hidden on Lockes Hill off Route 11 in Gilford, NH. From I-93, take exit 20 (Rt. 11) East. The trailhead and parking lot are on the right side of Rt. 11 approximately 3 miles past the Laconia Airport.
From Alton, take Rt. 11 west. The trailhead and parking area will be on the left side of Route 11 approx. 13 miles from the traffic circle at the intersection of Routes 11 and 28.
This is a great hike for kids with nice views of Lake Winnipesaukee. The letterbox is hidden at the top of Lockes Hill. Take either the Lakeview Trail (.65 miles) or Quarry Trail (1.15 miles) up. Once at the top, walk to the view past the telephone pole with the sign for Quarry Trail and Parking Lot. There is a big flat rock overlooking a view of trees and Belknap Mountain. Near the top of the flat rock, there are two trees on the left with a shared base and rocks around them. Look between the two tree trunks under the sticks.
Make sure to cover the box with the sticks when you leave.
