Location: The Slater Mill letterbox is located at Slater Mill in downtown Pawtucket. For directions and more information check: www.slatermill.org or www.tourblackstone.com

Distance: About a 10-15 minute walk round trip not including clue solving and stamping.

Stamp: Hand Drawn and Hand-Carved

Terrain: Mostly paved walkway.

Other info: The Pawtucket Visitors Center is open 9-5 most days and the park is open 9-7. If you have time be sure to check out the Slater Mill Living Museum.

To the Letterbox:
Begin at the Pawtucket Visitors Center. Enjoy learning a little about the Blackstone River Valley and then answer the following questions.

There are three statues carved out of logs. One is a man, one is a boy and one is a ___(A)___ .(4 Letters)

On the “Nature” section of the kiosk how many green ducks are there? ___(B)___

On the larger floor map of the Blackstone River Valley find the “latitude” of the following:

Old Millbury Common ___(C)___
Jenkins Store ___(D)___
Clock Museum ___(E)___

Leave the Visitors Center, cross the street and go down the stairs towards Old Slater Mill. Stop at the two historical placards to learn a little more about the mill.

Count how many weather vanes (not on the placards) you can see from this place. ____(F)___

Head down to the river. Then walk the path beyond the spotlights to two more historical placards.

What year was the dam of gravel and sand built? ___(G)___
Add together the digits of (G), this will give you ___(H)___.

Turn around. What animal sits upon the column? ___(I)___

From the placards head towards the rusty remnants of a dam.
Once across find the “__(I)__ __(A)__”

From the “__(I)__ __(A)__” take a compass heading of (B) _(C) degrees and walk (H) paces.

Next take a compass heading of (D) (E) degrees and walk (F) paces to find your prize.

The area can be well traveled in the warmer months so please be discreet and re-hide well.
