This is a five-part series of urban letterboxes in downtown Guelph. It is based on the legendary superheroes of the Justice League, better known to some as The Superfriends (minus some of the more unusual members…Apache Chief…uncomfortable silence…).

The entire series can be completed in about two hours, and is designed to give
you a nice walking tour of the downtown area.

Warning: this one takes places in a challenging labyrinth of hills, one-way streets and bizarre traffic calming measures.

-----------------------------

Hal Jordan, AKA the Green Lantern, has gone missing and only the other B-List heroes of the JLG can find him!

Need some help with the clues? This link should clear things up:

If you have just finished the Wonder Woman clue, you’ll find yourself walking down a street that shares Aquaman’s first name. Otherwise…

…As above, locate the street that shares Aquaman’s first name. Begin north of Hwy 24, but walking towards it.

Keep following the Aquaman street past two bridges on your right. The first is for vehicles and the next is for pedestrians only.

Keep going until a street that shares Green Arrow’s last name terminates on your left.

Follow Green Arrow’s street until it intersects with a street that shares the current Atom’s last name. Turn right and keep going along the Atom’s street.

You will come to a vertical series of signs. One bears some resemblance to Green Lantern’s ring and one profiles some super-friends. You must be getting close!

Keep going until you come to a recreation area named for a famous monster slayer. Turn right immediately and walk along the fence.

Up ahead you will see what must be Green Lantern’s hideout. Walk past it until you reach the street on the far side.

Turn right on this street and keep going until it curves off to the left. Don’t follow the curve but instead go to the small triangular patch on the outside of the curve. There you’ll see a fallen wire fence and a wooden fence. The box is at the base of the tree closest to the wooden fence, under some rocks.

Found it? Congratulations!

To get to the Batman letterbox follow the steps that lead down from the point of the triangular (or is that batarang?) shaped area. Just keep going straight until the street ends. Ta-da! You’re back at the place where the Green Arrow street and the Aquaman street meet. Retrace your steps to the pedestrian bridge and head to it.
