**update 3/13/07: DANG!!!! The box is gone. Radical tree and shrub trimming exposed its hiding place and then what? The chipper, maybe? Or some worker desiring a souvenir? Will re-carve and re-plant as soon as I can get to it, so stay tuned.**

Milk Farm used to be a cafeteria-style roadhouse cafe, and the only place for miles for a weary traveler to get a cup of coffee (during business hours, of course). At some point, they tore it down--maybe even before I had a chance to have a milkshake there--but the sign stands as a landmark in my memories of travels along the I-80 corridor, and may actually be legally designated as a landmark. I wanted to use a magnetized box and attach it to the sign standard, but there is a chain link fence around it that prevents access. If you have Milk Farm memories, please put them in the log, and enjoy a bit of nostalgia for the days before everything was a chain.

Clues: From 80 east, use the Currey Rd/First Street exit. From 80 west, use the Milk Farm Rd. exit. You want to be on Milk Farm Road about a tenth (it might be closer to two tenths) of a mile east (highway direction east--towards Tahoe) of the sign. On the freeway side of the road, there is a multitrunked mulberry tree above a low brick wall. If the tree is covered in fruit, you might want to clean your shoes before you get back in your car. From this tree, take five steps back on the road toward the sign, then look left at the big juniper that is growing above the wall. If you walk right to it (be careful of the ditch!), you should be just about where the box is hiding under juniper branches, just behind the top of the wall. [Extra clue: from the yellow diamond stop ahead sign on the opposite side of the street, the box is due east, the Milk Farm sign almost due south (190).] Please re-hide carefully and please do not enter these clues into any database. Notify placer directly with status reports. Have fun!
