"The Place Of Nettles" letterbox honors the turning point of the American Revolution which was one of America's bloodiest battles ever.

First you need to discover where, on August 6, 1777, New York militiamen with their Oneida allies faced down Loyalist forces as friends, family and neighbors fought in bitter pursuit of liberty. Today this place serves as a site of healing and remembrance for generations of Americans, Loyalists and Native Americans as well as all who cherish freedom and democracy.

To find this letterbox at this field you must first proceed to the visitor center to pick up a walking tour map located in the kiosk. (If the maps are out of stock just proceed to the Military Road across the field and start there) Open the map and take a walk to marker number 3. Take the time to look and observe. Follow your map and make way to marker number 8. Here you will learn who laid beneth this tree wounded. Now on to finding that box. You must make your way to the Military Road, once there, follow the stone path to the right way. Watch out for the tails of the cats while heading towards the Ambush starting point. Listen for the rushing waters of the bloody creek. This bridge will carry you where soldiers once roamed. Follow the path ALL the way to where the fence ENDS and MEETS the tall thin tree. Follow the tree to where the roots would be to underneath the path. Once there move through the fallen leaves and bark. Find the box and stamp in.

Once finished please return to the way it was found.

Easy, Good educational location for children and people interested in Revolutionary War history.

PLEASE BRING INSECT REPELLENT OR USE BEFORE YOU HEAD ON YOUR JOURNEY!!!!!
