LOS GATOS CREEK TRAIL - THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS MINI LETTERBOX SERIES
Through the Looking Glass Mini Letterbox Series - Box 1

NOTE: THIS LETTERBOX HAS BEEN REPORTED MISSING
(This is my favourite carving of the series) Starting from downtown Los Gatos, go toward highway 9. When you pass under the Los Gatos-Saratoga Road Bridge, there is a bench to rest on with a small retaining wall behind it.
In the middle and behind the retaining wall the box is hidden. There are 2 rocks covering it. Please be sure that the box is covered properly when you replace it.

Continue down the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Soon you will come across Roberts Road Overpass. Inside the overpasses concrete structure itself is where the letterbox is hidden. Facing the concrete stucture, you will see 2 rectangular "holes" at standing eye level. The letterbox is hidden inside the right hole. Look behind the rock on the left. Please be sure that the box is covered properly when you replace it.

Continue down the Los Gatos Creek Trail through Vasona Park and past the lake. When you get to the Lark Ave Overpass, turn around and return back towards downtown Los Gatos. You will want to stop at the beginning of the first wooden fence on your right hand side. OK - *now* face back towards Lark Ave...go 10 paces. On your right is a pile of rocks...have a seat to "rest" on those rocks...the large ovla-ish rock has hiding beneath it the letterbox. Please be sure that the box is covered properly when you replace it.

Note about the trail:
* Trail is very busy, bring a prop to use as a diversion (camera/sketchpad/dog), be FAST, and please...be sure the boxes are re-hidden WELL AND OUT OF SITE.
* DIRECTIONS: There are many ways to get to these boxes because of the size of the trail and where you can get on it. These directions start at dowtown Los Gatos to make it easy. Those familiar with the area can make the walk longer and shorter by figuring out the clues in advance and/or referring to a map of the area. Take 17 (south or north) and exit hwy 9 towards Los Gatos proper. Turn left onto University and then left onto Miles. You will pass over the trail. On the left you will see parking. Take the trail back towards hwy 9. Round trip, the walk is about 10 miles or about 2 hours.
* This is a "wheel" friendly trail, but the location of the box is not.
* Dogs are allowed on-leash. They are not allowed to chase the wildlife and please pick up after your four-legged friend (duh). Pooper-scoopers are provided (the expensive ones too!). Also, watch out for ticks (we've had reports of some 4-legged hunters taking some home).
