This 5-letterbox series was created with our precious letterboxing kids in mind (ages 5 to 15, though don’t ignore the kid in you). The clues are meant to be deciphered by the kids themselves so that our accompanying letterboxing parents/guardians can stand back, watch and enjoy the magic!! Paces are based on kid-sized steps and should be easy to navigate. The intention was to hide boxes in a number of parks with playgrounds (where the clues begin) around Hood River. All parks are picnic friendly and offer plenty of shade. Grab the kids and have a great letterboxing adventure!!!

This ain’t Bikini Bottom and Spongebob’s pet snail Gary is nowhere around, but it’s plain to see that the yellow sponge and his buddies Patrick and Sandy Cheeks have been here playing at Jackson Park.

From Cascade/Oak Street in Hood River, head up (south) 13th Street and turn right on May Street (the hospital is on your left). There at the southwest corner of 13th and May is Jackson Park. You can park in the small lot on the left or drive up a bit further and park in the baseball park parking lot.

CLUES: Start at the playground. The hunt is itchin’ to get started so save the playing time for after the find!! Start at the end of the squiggly slide, facing south. Four steps places you on top of the playground wall. Travel to the left to the corner, behind the park bench. Look up the hill towards the road. See that stump in the grass? Spongebob would want to stand on the top of it. Wouldn’t you? From the stump, turn and face the playground. Look to the right and up the hill from the playground to find two large oak trees. Behind the oak closest to the fence, under a rock is where you’ll find Spongebob waiting to be stamped!!! This is a majorly-high traffic area, so please be secretive and discrete while enjoying the box.
