THE LIBRARY WOULD ONLY HOLD THIS BOX FOR A YEAR, SO I'M IN THE PROCESS OF RE-HIDING IT IN ANOTHER LOCATION (HOPEFULLY OUTSIDE THE LIBRARY, WHERE A NEW PARK HAS BEEN CREATED). STAY TUNED!!
This 6-letterbox series was created with our precious letterboxing kids in mind (ages 5 to 15, though don’t ignore the kid in you). The clues are meant to be deciphered by the kids themselves so that our accompanying letterboxing parents/guardians can stand back, watch and enjoy the magic!! Paces are based on kid-sized steps and should be easy to navigate. The intention was to hide boxes in a number of parks with playgrounds (where the clues begin) around Hood River, but I came up one playground short. I’ve improvised quite successfully with this box!! Grab the kids and have a great letterboxing adventure!!!
Thomas the Tank loves a good story and what better place to find the right one than a trip to the Library. Thomas thought it would be fun to hide out in the Children’s Library at the Hood River County Library, hoping that kids would come down and enjoy the new children’s area and hopefully spend some time reading, and even checking out, a book or two. Don’t forget the best train books!!!
CLUES: In Hood River, from Oak/Cascade street turn south on any side street and find State Street. The Hood River County Library is located on State Street between 5th and 6th Street, across from the Hood River News building. Head downstairs via the stairs or elevator to the children’s area. Once in the Children’s Library, look around and spend some leisurely time reading a story or two or enjoying the many activities available. When you’re ready to stamp with Thomas the Tank, simply ask the Librarian for the Thomas the Tank Letterbox. It’s being watched and protected under the counter!!!
