We have taken ownership of this box. Out of respect to the original owner we have left the clues unchanged and as first written. Thank You Rubaduc!

This box was planted on a four day weekend in Maine, with my non-letterboxing friend, Mendelssohn. We climbed to the top of Mt. Battie for a letterbox and left this one on the way.

Directions: On Rt.1 north, out of Camden center go left onto Rt. 52 for 1.2 miles. On the right will be a small turnout for two or three cars. A sign tells you that this is the Old Carriage Road leading to the Mt. Battie Road in one mile. the box is shy of the road but I highly recommend continuing to the top, no matter how many times you've been there before. The view is one of the best.

Clues: Enter on a paved road which turns to dirt at the boulder barrier. Follow blue blazes along a flat carriage road until a fork with signs. Take the right fork and soon you'll see where this trail has been relocated to the right. Follow the trail between the birch logs and after awhile it comes back to the original trail which is almost a stream bed. In a bit you once more turn onto the new trail which at this time (9-5-05) was not blazed yet. When you once again meet up with the old trail (at a giant boulder) watch for a perfect slingshot tree on the left side of the trail (about 100 steps away) that is best seen from the other direction. At the slingshot tree go approximately 70 steps and looking right see a jumble of rock ledges (or boulders, so I've been told :-)about 25 yards off trail(this is just before a blue blazed two sister tree and drainage ditch). Look into the very western end of the rocks and Keep On Truckin to the top or return to your car.
Thank you for visiting.
I LOVE MAINE !!
