Something really reeks over in Finntown and its up to your to get to the source of it. Here's where you need to go:

Here's where you need to go:
Finntown Overlook and Park
Directions: Located at the east end of 3rd Street North in Virginia past the historic Kaleva Hall, three blocks north of Chestnut Street

My son tells me that if he were ever caught by a giant who wished to have him for a snack he would use this particular item as his defense. The calls it the "D--- F--- Defense". The giant would get him right up to his face and then let him go once his nose caught wind of the stench. Now you may also carry this defense with you...

Walk beneath the pink triangle towards the human sized lobster cage. The smell seems to be coming from somewhere nears its entry. Note the rows of green suited sentries on either side of the walk. One holds the secret smelly source--a smell powerful enough to stop even the meanest troll(or unwanted love)in his or her tracks. If you have a decent nose whatsoever, you should know that the smell is coming from the right--step bewteen the mineral pile and first sentry. Sniff around that first sentry to find the source. Bet you though D--- F---stood for something that would get you in trouble for saying. Can you figure out it true meaning?

Now for a little gratuitous history of where you are...
Walk through a 50-foot caged safety bridge out into the midst of the historic Rouchleau group of mines. The mining canyon expands nearly 3 miles long, a half-mile wide and 450 feet deep. Towering rock cropped walls with various red hues stretch across the entire open pit mine. The Rouchleau Group of mines began as underground shafts, when other mines honey-combed the earth a few hundred feet below the surface, eventually joining underground. The Rouchleau Group of mines has produced more than 300 million gross tons of iron ore to date within the Virginia district. Ten mining companies were involved in the Rouchleau in open pit mining at one time or another, with the last shipments being made in 1977. The panoramic view comes alive with autumn's colors and also provides various bird watching opportunities. The Finntown Overlook Park is a gateway to recreation with an entrance to a paved biking trail, The Mesabi TrailSM and direct access to more than 2,000 miles of scenic groomed snowmobile trails. Also found on-site is a picnic table, and numerous oversized mining tires for children to play on.
