Take Rt 101 to Exit 5 in Raymond. Follow the Brown signs on Rt.102, Rt.107, and Rt. 156 to Pawtuckaway State Park. There is a $3/person fee to enter the State Park. Be sure to ask for a hiking map at the gate. A huge boulder field, a fire tower, picnicing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, boating and fishing are some of the highlights of this 5,500-acre park. To begin your search. Follow the signs to the Group Picnic Area. Park here. Clues: Walk away from the parking lot, down the paved drive, back to where you entered from the main road. The Fundy Trail head is just across the street. You must follow the Fundy Trail. It is marked with a white blaze on the trees. At the first junction make the decision to go left. Stay with the white blazes. Cross over a stream that passes through a culvert. Keep your eyes open to find a stone cellar hole on the Northwest side of the trail. Locate the HUGE double/triple pine behind the cellar hole. Circle behind this tree. Between its northwest toes, under a rock and pine debris is the prize. Please be sure to reseal the bags and rehide this box carefully under debris. Now that you have found the letterbox, please do continue your walk. Fundy Trail is 2 miles long. It takes you along Burnham Marsh to Fundy Cove, an inlet of Pawtuckaway Lake, and the public boatramp. There are many interesting glacial erratics and stone walls along the trail. Birdwatching over the marsh is possible in many places. Enjoy!
