The Bear Gone Fishing letterbox is located on the hiking trail
at the Summit Overlook on Swan Mountain Road, approx half way between Breckenridge and Keystone, Colorado.

Exit off I-70 at Frisco, and go approx. 5 miles South on Rte 9 to Swan Mountain Road. Turn left at traffic light (sign on the traffic light pole says "Summit High School Rd" - which is to the right)Follow the road up to the Summit Overlook on your left and park in the parking lot. Start at the Trailhead on the left next to Restrooms.

Alt Route: From Keystone, go North on Rte 6 towards Dillon and turn
left at stoplight on Swan Mountain Road. Follow road up to the Summit Overlook on your right and park in the parking lot. Start at the Trailhead on the left next to Restrooms.

* Follow the dirt trail down, past a bench on the right. Lake Dillon
will begin to come into view on the left.

* Stop at lookout point for a beautiful view of Lake Dillon and the
10 mile Range. (make sure to bring some sunflower seeds to feed the
many resident chipmunks!)

* Walk up the trail to your right past a very large rock on left.
* Continue up to the 1st bench on the left for a brief rest.

* Walk up the trail to a picnic area where there are 3 picnic benches.
(if you packed water and a snack, this is a great spot to enjoy)

* After a short rest continue along the trail for a short walk until
you come to another bench on your left. Stop at this bench.
* Now, turn around a hike back up the trail in the direction back
towards the picnic benches for 31 paces. (a pace is 1 adult step)

* Face UPHILL. Go off the trail and hike UPHILL to a large fallen tree
that lies parallel to the trail. (we counted about 38-40 steps
uphill to the tree, on the left.) It forms a nice "bench"..

* Look for the LB on the backside of the tree at the base, covered
by 3 stones, several sticks and pieces of bark.

Replace carefully.

After hiking back down to the trail, continue on to the right, past
the bench you stopped at - and you will arrive very shortly back at
the parking lot.
